Spring and summer are here, which means the weather is about to get a little warmer. And it's not just the weather that's changing: your skin will be too!

You might notice that your skin gets dryer in the winter, but in the summer, it can get oilier. Your pores might open up more when it's hot outside, so you may need to switch up your skincare routine to keep them clean and clear.

If you want to make sure your skin is always healthy and looking its best, try switching up your skincare routine every season.

Here are some ideas for how to do this:

1. Tone it Up

In spring or summer, try using a toner or astringent every day after cleansing to help remove any excess oil from your face. If you have oily skin, this will help balance out the moisture levels on your face and keep breakouts at bay.

2. Ditch the body butter and thick creams

Unless you have really dry skin, ditch the thick body butters and creams for a more lightweight lotion or serum, which will allow your skin to breathe and chill out. Since we sweat more in the warmer months, doing this will also help to prevent clogged pores that need to breakouts on your face and body.

3. Wear SPF Daily, Like Foreal

Next, try using a moisturizer with SPF 30+ every day after cleansing (and before applying makeup). This will help protect against sun damage while also keeping your skin hydrated! Check out our blog post on the importance of spf for our top 3 sunscreen recommendations for brown skin.

4. Add Antioxidants

Using products containing antioxidants like aloe vera, vitamin E, green tea, and licorice root, to name a few, will help repair and protect your skin from sun damage, reduce sun spots and hyperpigmentation, and help reduce inflammation.

5. Don't Hate, Exfoliate

Regular exfoliation will help to get rid of dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling smoother than a baby's bottom. This will also help to prevent clogged pores and keep bad breakouts at bay.
